Jenna Severson Receives This Year's Athena Award
Congratulations to senior Jenna Severson who received this year's Athena Award, which is awarded annually to the top female athlete at SAVHS. This year is the 37th Annual Athena Awards program, celebrating Minneapolis-area female athletes. The Athena Award was created to recognize young women who have outstanding athletic achievements and dedication to excellence. Jenna Severson has an outstanding track record with one state championship title in the 300 meter hurdles and two All-State awards. During her section meet last year she earned a first place in the 300 meter hurdles, a second place in the 200 meter dash, a third place in the triple jump, and a fourth place in the 100 meter high hurdles. Jenna also competed at state her sophomore year in the 400 meter dash, where she received eighth place overall. Throughout high school Severson not only excelled on the track team, but also as a soccer player. Jenna was named All-Conference for the soccer team three of her four years on the varsity team and made Spring Lake Park / St. Anthony's top ten list for having 17 assists during her high school career. Next year, Severson will be competing for the Badgers at the University of Wisconsin on a Track and Field scholarship. Congratulations to Jenna for all of her impressive achievements, Severson will be recognized for her award at the Athena Luncheon later this spring.
