Meet Our School Board
Jane Eckert, Vice Chair
Jane is the current Vice-Chair and has also served as Clerk. She is current Chair of the Association of Metropolitan School Districts.
Jane was a television journalist for 30 years. She has switched careers and is now the Manager of the Children's and Housewares Departments at Macy's in Rosedale. Jane and her husband Steve have two grown children. Scott and Lindsey attended St. Anthony schools K-12. Jane Eckert was elected to the Board in 1997.

David Evans, Director
Dave is an alumnus of Washburn High School where he took part in
wrestling, track, and played on a championship football team. He
received a Bachelors' degree from Macalester College and a Masters from
St. Cloud State University. While at Macalester, he played football and
was wrestling captain.
Mr. Evans taught math at New Richland-Hartland Schools for two years and in St. Anthony-New Brighton School District for 32 years where he was also head wrestling and assistant football coach for many years. Dave was District wrestling coach of the year in 1979 and 1980, was named in Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 1992, won the North Suburban Gavel Association Award in 2000, and was St. Anthony Villager of the Year in 2003. Dave has served on the school board since 1996.

Barry Kinsey, Chair
Barry has been on the St. Anthony-New Brighton school board since 1990 and during that time has served as Chair, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer. Barry has also been active in education outside the district. He was a founding board member of the Joint Powers Board of the West Metro Education Program (WMEP) and spent several years as the district's representative to the Association of Metropolitan School Districts (AMSD) where he served on and chaired the AMSD Executive Committee.
Barry and his wife Bernice Kuure have lived in St. Anthony for 22 years and have three children who have attended (or are currently attending) St. Anthony-New Brighton Schools. In 1997 Barry was named St. Anthony Villager of the Year. Barry is Media Director at Hot Dish Advertising, a Twin Cities based full service advertising agency.

Don Siggelkow, Clerk
Don Siggelkow was elected to the St. Anthony-New Brighton school board in 2007. Don grew up in St. Anthony and graduated from St. Anthony Village High School in 1976. Don and his wife, Helen, have two children, a son Zach (class of 2014) and a daughter Sammi (class of 2017).
Don has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s of Public Administration degree from Arizona State University. Don also is a coach, former baseball commissioner and former board member for the St. Anthony Sport’s Boosters. Don is the General Manager for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and oversees administration, golf courses, ice arenas, food concessions, special events, permits and parking.

Leah Slye, Treasurer
Leah was recently appointed as Treasurer of the Board. She and her husband, Terry, have lived in St. Anthony Village since 1986. They have sons in the middle school and high school, and their two older children graduated from district schools. Before joining the board, Leah volunteered in all three schools, served on the Blue Ribbon Finance Committee, and chaired the District Curriculum Review Committee.
Leah is employed as a grant-maker for the Charles D. Gilfillan Memorial Foundation which helps rural Minnesotans afford medical treatment.

Mike Volna, Director
Mike Volna has served as a school board member from 1987-1996 and 2000-present. He has lived in the St. Anthony-New Brighton school district for most of his life, and graduated from St. Anthony Village High School in 1973. He and his wife, Kim, have two children: a son, Ryan (class of 2008) and a daughter, Claire (class of 2011).
Mike has degrees in accounting, economics and political science from the University of Minnesota. After working at a defense contractor and as a certified public accountant at a "Big 8" accounting firm, he went to work in 1992 in the central finance and accounting office of the University of Minnesota. Since 2000, he has held the position of Associate Vice President, Finance and Controller, with university-wide responsibilities for most accounting and financial management functions.
