Brent Blacky

 

Brent Blackey, Class of 1976
Brent Blackey, class of 1976, is a graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business. Mr. Blackey was a senior partner at both Arthur Andersen (where he served from 1980 until 2002) and Ernst and Young, and is currently the President and Chief Operating Officer of Holiday Companies, which he joined in 2004. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of two public technology companies and also serves on the Carlson School of Management Board of Overseers. Mr. Blackey is active in several community organizations and has been a volunteer coach for boys and girls basketball.

Eric Borg

 

Eric Borg, Class of 1982
Eric Borg, class of 1982, was named Minnesota State Scholar Athlete of the Year in his senior year at SAVHS. He still holds many school records in Football and Hockey. Borg has a B.A. from Yale in Economics, and was a 4 year Yale letterman in Hockey. He was the co-MVP in 1986 and won the Yale Hockey Malcom G. Chace Award (presented to the member of the Yale Varsity hockey team who through sportsmanship, sprit and ability best represents the traditions of Yale Hockey). Borg is currently a financial consultant with Thrivent Financial and was formerly Managing Director at Piper-Jaffray. He has been very active in the Eden Prairie Youth Sports Program, coaching and serving on the board.

Phil Carruthers

 

Phil Carruthers, 1971
Phil Carruthers is a 1971 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and the former speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives. He served seven terms in the Minnesota House representing Brooklyn Center, and currently is Director of the Prosecution Division of the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office.

Jan Stafford Dalton

 

Jan Stafford Dalton, Class of 1975
After receiving degrees from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Stafford Dalton served four years active duty in the United States Air Force and 29 years in the Air Force Reserve. She retired after 33 years of service at the rank of Command Chief Master Sergeant, the highest ranking enlisted member of the 934th Airlift Wing, Minneapolis-St. Paul Air Reserve Station. An avid runner, Stafford Dalton has completed several marathons and triathlons and finished 2nd in her age group in what is billed as the “World’s Toughest Marathon,” The Volcano Marathon held on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Mark Dimunation

 

Mark Dimunation, Class of 1970
Mark Dimunation, class of 1970, is currently the Chief of the Rare Book and Special Collections Division of the Library of Congress. In this capacity, he is responsible for the development and management of the largest rare book collection in North America. Dimunation specializes in 18th century English and American printing. He has worked and taught at Berkeley, Stanford and Cornell; has lectured extensively; and has authored numerous exhibitions. Dimunation recently completed a project to reconstruct the Library of Thomas Jefferson.

Mark Hess

Mark Hess, 1982
Mark Hess is a 1980 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and is currently a firefighter for the City of Minneapolis. Mark was a starting shortstop on the University of Minnesota baseball team for three years, and was a first team All Big-Ten honoree. Mark was second in the Big Ten in hitting during his sophomore year, and was on the all-academic team. Mark still plays amateur ball, and has been a starting shortstop for state championship teams four times.

Dr. Janet Heukeshoven

 

Dr. Janet Heukeshoven, Class of 1975
Dr. Janet Heukeshoven, class of 1975, is a Professor of Music and Music Education at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, Winona Campus. She is the collegiate representative for the Minnesota Music Educators Association Board of Directors, member and past board member of the Minnesota Band Director’s Association, member of the College Band Director’s National Association and member of the Upper Midwest Flute Association. Dr. Heukeshoven is a guest conductor and clinician, and has performed flute and piccolo solos nationally and internationally. She has been educating musicians of all ages and abilities for over 30 years.

Mark Kimball

 

Mark Kimball, 1976
Mark Kimball is a 1976 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and is currently the General Counsel for Select Comfort Corporation in Minneapolis, MN. He has been an active attorney in the Twin Cities Area since his graduation from the University of Minnesota Law School Magna Cum Laude in 1984.

Jay Knutson

Jay Knutson, 1969
Jay Knutson is a 1969 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and is currently a scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). After graduating, Jay received his PhD in Physics from the University of Minnesota. Jay is a leader in the development of laser-driven, high-speed optimal instruments; his innovations have allowed researchers to make advances in the fields of biology and medicine. Jay is chief of the Optical Spectroscopy section of the Laboratory of Biophysical Chemistry, and has been elected to the Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars.

Rick Lundeen, 1963
Rick Lundeen is a 1963 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School who has served the community as a firefighter, liaison and community activist. He has been a frequent volunteer with the school district.

Bill McReavy, Jr.

 

Bill McReavy, Jr., 1980
Bill McReavy, Jr. is a 1980 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School. He is currently the President of Washburn-McReavy Funeral Services and has led the family-run business through a modern expansion during an era of consolidations in the industry. He has been a frequent volunteer to St. Anthony Village High School and Washburn-McReavy annually provides scholarships to St. Anthony Village graduates.

Marko Medved

 

Marko Medved, Class of 1984
Marko Medved, class of 1984, is a Captain in the Civil Engineer Corps of the United States Navy and is currently the Operations Officer for Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest. He has participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Desert Shield and has been deployed or stationed across the Pacific and the Atlantic. Over the course of his military career, Medved has earned numerous awards including the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon. Medved holds a Master of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is a registered Professional Engineer and currently resides in San Diego, CA with his family.

Timothy Mezzenga

 

Timothy Mezzenga, 1975
Timothy Mezzenga is a 1975 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School. He is currently the Owner and President of Tracy Printing, Inc., a family-run printing company located in St. Anthony. He has been a frequent contributor to the St. Anthony Community, including volunteer hours and through Tracy Printing.

Gregory Olinyk

 

Gregory Olinyk, 1964
Gregory Olinyk is a 1964 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and is currently a humanitarian in New Canaan, Connecticut. He is a successful entrepreneur and venture capitalist, as well as an author, volunteer firefighter, and a former commissioned officer in the U.S. Military. He is an award-winning founder of a charity to combat child abuse.

Mary Pucel

 

Mary Pucel, 1981
Mary Pucel is a 1981 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and currently works in the quality assurance for blood collection and transfusion of the American Red Cross. She is past president of the Minnesota Association of Blood Banks and is active in organizing multiple blood drives across Minnesota and the Midwest. She also is certified as a black belt in Six Sigma relating to business management strategy, and holds degrees in Microbiology and Medical Technology. She lives in St. Anthony Village and her children attend St. Anthony Village-New Brighton schools.

Robert Rebelein

Robert Rebelein, 1980
Robert (Bob) Rebelein is a 1980 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School. Bob recently served as a senior economist to the Council of Economic Advisers for Presidents Bush and Obama in Washington D.C. To accept this one-year appointment, Bob took a leave of absence from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he is an Assistant Professor of Economics. Bob's areas of expertise include public finance, Macroeconomics, Monetary Policy, and International Economics. Outside of his professional life, Bob has achieved the level of Life Master as a bridge player and frequently plays in national and international tournaments.

Lisa Schrenk

Lisa Schrenk, 1980
Lisa Schrenk is a 1980 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and is a nationally renowned architectural historian. Lisa is currently an associate professor of architectural and art history at Norwich University, having received her PhD from the University of Texas at
Austin. Lisa received critical acclaim for her book Building a Century of Progress: The Architecture of Chicago’s 1933-34 World’s Fair, and received a Fullbright Award to study sustainability development in Brazil. Lisa is a premier level Scottish Highland dancer, and teaches dance in her home communities in Vermont and Albuquerque, NM, where she balloons with her husband during school breaks.

Mallory Beth Thompson

 

Dr. Mallory Beth Thompson, 1975
Dr. Mallory Beth Thompson is a 1975 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and is currently the Director of Bands and Professor of Music at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She is one of only three faculty members university-wide to be named a Charles Deering McCormick Professor of Teaching Excellence, and has guest conducted numerous all-state, military and festival bands in addition to teaching and lecturing on the art of conducting to thousands of music teachers.

Paul Tombarge

 

Paul Tombarge, 1986
Paul Tombarge is a 1986 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School. He currently is a Colonel inthe U.S. Air Force in Naples, Florida, and has been a member of numerous Space-Flight design teams within the Air Force.

Mark Vijums

Mark Vijums, 1982
Mark Vijums is a 1982 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and is currently the vice commander of the 934th Airlift Wing, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Air Reserve Station. After graduation Mark attended the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Mark is a command pilot with 5300 hours of flying time; he participated in Operations JUST CAUSE, DESERT STORM, NOBLE EAGLE, ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. Mark is also the Congressional Air Force Liaison for the State of Minnesota. As a civilian, Mark is a pilot with Northwest Airlines. Mark was leader of the Loafer Ministry Woodland Hills Church in Maplewood, delivering bread for distribution for the "Meals on Wheels" program. Mark lives with his wife, Robin and his three daughters in Little Canada, MN.

Michael Volna, 1973
Michael Volna is a 1973 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and is currently a Vice President in Administration for the University of Minnesota. He has been active within the St. Anthony Community as a volunteer and lives in New Brighton, and is the Chair of the I.S.D. 282 School Board.

Joseph Wall

 

 

Joseph Wall, 1988
Joseph Wall is a 1988 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School and is currently employed as a Director in Marketing at Capital One in Richmond, VA. He previously worked for Warner Bros. as part of the team that invented the DVD and spent time as a consultant for McKinsey & Company. He holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago, as well as an engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was also a volunteer in the Hurricane Katrina clean-up efforts for his native St. Bernard’s Parish in New Orleans, where he was commissioned as a Deputy Sheriff for his efforts. He and his wife Anne, also a SAVHS ’88 graduate, live in Richmond, VA with their three children.
