Building & Grounds

St. Anthony - New Brighton School District building and grounds staff maintains sites which includes a total of three buildings, serving approximately 1,800 students and 350 staff members at:

St. Anthony Middle School/ St. Anthony Village High School (schools share a building)
Wilshire Park Elementary School
Community Services building (shared with St. Anthony City Hall)

Learning space for K-12 students total 344,000 square feet, and includes 108 classrooms. In addition, Building and Grounds maintains:

35 acres of land
Five athletic fields
Five gymnasiums
A six-lane swimming pool
One 685 seat performance auditorium.

Buildings and Grounds conducts a total of four district health and safety meetings for staff each year.

Custodial staff includes certified boiled operators, aquatic facility operators, registered unlicensed electricians, and licensed pesticide applicators.

Annual health & safety notifications

The Building and Grounds department maintains federal and state standards for health and safety in the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District through the following areas:

Indoor air quality management.
Asbestos abatement.
Pest control.
Playground inspection.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) required training programs.
Recycling of hazardous materials and electronic devices.
Reporting of district-related injuries.

Health and safety reports and testing

IEA report

The St. Anthony-New Brighton School District believes access to safe drinking water contributes to a healthy learning environment for our students. To ensure the quality of our drinking water, St. Anthony-New Brighton School District requested IEA to test different sources of water throughout our buildings specifically for lead. IEA tested 142 samples of water on August 11, 2016. Of those samples, 15 were retested on September 2, 2016. "The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Minnesota Department of Health requires that action be taken at a specific fixture when the lead concentration exceeds the EPA's action level for schools of 20 parts per billion (ppb)," as indicated in the IEA report dated September 23, 2016. IEA's report identified three water sources approaching 20 ppb and nine other water sources in which the amount of lead exceeded 20 ppb. The fixtures on those sources of water were either replaced or disconnected from service.

The Minnesota Department of Health requires that each tap or fixture providing water for drinking or food preparation be tested every five years.
