Yesterday, Daunte Wright, a 20-year old Black man and former student of Columbia Heights, was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Brooklyn Center. Last night, the National Guard was called in and a curfew was put into place within the City of Brooklyn Center due to civil unrest. We grieve for Mr. Wright and his loved ones; our thoughts are with his family and our neighboring communities.

We are continuing to process and seek ways to best support our students. We care about them and remain dedicated to their safety and well-being.

Our teachers, counselors, and mental health providers are ready to respond and support our students. Below is a list of available resources for families.
