Title I

Title I, Part A, of the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools, with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families, to assist schools in ensuring that all children meet challenging academic standards.

The St. Anthony-New Brighton School District receives TItle I funding to assist students who attend Wilshire Park Elementary. The funds are used to provide all children with fair, equitable and significant educational opportunities to obtain a high-quality education and to reach —at a minimum—proficiency on challenging state academic standards and assessments.  

Ann Shaw, reading intervention teacher meets with small groups of students in kindergarten through grade three to help improve their reading proficiency skills. Ms. Shaw promotes positivity in reading by naming the groups: Letter Club and Book Club. These groups help children to find joy in reading while advancing their skills in a small group with focused instruction.
