- Student Access allows students to access their grades and messages from teachers. Students have their own username and password. Student Skyward Login Instructions.

ParentSquare
ParentSquare
ParentSquare is the district’s communication tool for current students, families and staff. It connects to Skyward, so you can access ParentSquare while your child attends SANB and/or while you work for the district. The ParentSquare app is available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
Sign Up
- Families and staff can sign up for ParentSquare at parentsquare.com using the SAME email used for Skyward. When signed up, parents/guardians will be able to see recent posts such as district newsletters, school newsletters, and school related posts.
Notifications
- You can choose how and when ParentSquare sends you messages. Receive each post right away by email, text or the ParentSquare app, or select Digest to receive one daily summary at 6 p.m. ParentSquare always sends urgent alerts immediately. Change your settings on the website or in the app.
Language Settings
- Parents can change their language settings in their account settings as well. Our most commonly spoken languages are available: English, Oromo, Somali, and Spanish.

Getting to School
Families may be eligible for open enrollment transportation in the open enrolled bus zone by centralized stops. The fee for open enrolled transportation is located below. Fees are non refundable and payment is due within the first 30 days of a confirmed route.

Special Education
St. Anthony-New Brighton (SANB) provides comprehensive programs for students with disabilities. Service is provided to students who range in age from birth through high school, with some students receiving services until age 22.
SANB strives to provide challenging and tailored instruction to students in the general education classroom whenever possible.

English Learners (ML/EL)
Students who are identified as Multilingual/English Learners (ML/EL) in the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District are served in an instructional program designed to meet varying needs across proficiency levels. Licensed teachers are available at Wilshire Park Elementary, St. Anthony Middle School, and St. Anthony Village High School.

Family & Student Support
School-based mental health therapy is an opportunity available to all students and families in the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District (SANB).
The district partners with Northeast Youth & Family Services, a nonprofit, community-based and trauma-informed mental health and community services organization. Support includes:

Health Screenings
- Health screenings are an important way to help students to be ready to learn. Students in St. Anthony/New Brighton school district are screened for vision and hearing according to the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines at Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10. Color vision is screened on all children in First Grade. Parents/guardians will be notified by US Mail if their child does not pass a vision or hearing screening. Elementary students are screened in the fall and middle and high school students are screened in the winter.
Immunizations
- Minnesota Law requires that students who are enrolled in public schools provide documentation of vaccination against certain communicable diseases or a legal exemption from those vaccinations. Students must be current on their immunizations or have a legal exemption in order to continue to be enrolled in school. Questions about immunizations can be directed to the District Nurse at 612-706-1077 or 612-706-1263.

Medications at School
- If your child needs to receive medication at school, the Authorization for Medication Administration at School form must be completed by a health care provider and signed by a parent or guardian.
- Middle and High School students may self-carry their emergency medications such as EPIPENs and Inhalers with the written order of their health care provider and signature of parent or guardian. Authorization for Student Self-Administration of Inhaler or Epipen Form.
- Middle and High School students may self carry and administer over-the-counter pain medications such as Tylenol with the signature of their parent/guardian and the student. The student agrees not to share their medication with others. Over-the-Counter Pain Medication Form.

Homeschooling
In accordance with state law, we are required to ensure that all school-age children living within the boundaries of the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District are being educated. Our primary role is to provide necessary information and collect forms from each homeschool for compliance.

Homelessness/McKinney-Vento Act
Homelessness is defined as children and youth “who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.” If you are experiencing the following nighttime residence, you may qualify for benefits under the McKinney-Vento Act. Contact one of our counselors to learn more about resources available to you and your family.
Section 504
Section 504 requires that students who demonstrate “a substantial limitation in a major life function", have a written accommodation plan that will assist with their participation in the general educational environment. Examples of physical or mental impairments that may be covered under Section 504 include: epilepsy, allergies, vision impairments, broken limbs, cancer, diabetes, asthma, ADD/ ADHD.
SANB Schools requests a diagnosis to assist with eligibility, but a diagnosis is not required to meet criteria. Other documented sources, observations, and input from the family, classroom teachers, and other school personnel will be used to determine eligibility.
Emergency Response Protocols
SANB uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to respond quickly and clearly during a variety of situations. Students are familiar with the language around these protocols, signs hang in classrooms and in the halls and they practice the protocols throughout the year. To ensure you’re in the know about an SRP in a building during end of year celebrations and events, make sure your ParentSquare text and email notifications are on.
Hold:
A hold might be used if there is a medical emergency in the building or when we need to limit traffic in the hallways. Students will remain in their classrooms with doors locked, but class will continue as normal.
Secure:
The secure command is called if there is something potentially dangerous outside of the school or in a neighborhood close by. Students and staff will stay inside the building and doors will be locked, but inside the school it will be business as usual.
Lockdown:
A lockdown is only initiated when there is an active threat inside or very close to our school. Students and staff will remain locked in their classroom, out of sight, and maintain silence.
Evacuate:
We may need to evacuate if there is a fire or other hazardous situation that makes it unsafe to be in school. Students and staff will walk to - or be transported by bus - to a safe location and reunified with their families.
Shelter:
We may need to shelter if there is severe weather in our area. Students and staff will shelter in designated spaces within our building to maximize safety.

Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child in the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District. To begin, please contact your school to confirm residency status. Please see the contact information below for each school. Once residency status has been verified, the school administrative assistant will send enrollment paperwork for you to complete.
Need an interpreter? Contact your student's building to request an interpreter in your home language to assist in filling out your application and answer any questions.
You will need the following information to submit your application:
- Proof of Residency Documentation: The three documents must be current, accurate and valid
- Lease agreement, warranty deed, county tax statement or purchase agreement

Out of district – Open Enrollment (K-12)
Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child in the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District. We accept non-resident students for open enrollment as space is available at each grade level.
Open Enrollment is defined by the process to apply for enrollment in a school district in which a student does not reside. It is designed to give all families the opportunity to select the best educational experience for their children. This enrollment option encourages parents/guardians to become knowledgeable about the needs and interests of their children and become more informed about what educational programs schools are offering. Open enrollment applications are accepted October 15 - January 15 for the following school year.

The Statewide Enrollment Options application process is governed by the Minnesota Department of Education MN Statute 124D.03 and school board Policy 509 Enrollment of Nonresident Students. Prior to the lottery, application priority is given to:
- Siblings of currently enrolled students
- Children of district employees who are Minnesota residents
- MDE approved achievement and integration school choice plan
To be considered for the first-round 2025-26 school year open enrollment lottery, please submit your child's application no later than Jan. 15, 2026.
If space is available, a randomized lottery will be performed by school building and grade. Families will be notified of the status of an application by Feb. 15, 2026. Open enrollment applications received after Jan. 15, 2025 will be added to a current wait list for the school year in which they've applied. Families will be notified of the status of an application, if space becomes available. If families are not accepted for the current school year, they will need to reapply for the next school year.

Families will begin receiving information in February regarding registration in April.
In the meantime, please contact the St. Anthony Community Center at 612.706.1166 to schedule your child's early childhood screening. Screenings are FREE but required for kindergarten entry.
Preschool/ECFE
St. Anthony-New Brighton Community Services believes parents are a child's first and most important teacher. The St. Anthony Community Services Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) program hosts weekly classes for parents and children ages 0-5. St. Anthony Community Services also offers preschool classes for children ages 3-5 years of age.

What if I want to homeschool my student?

Do all students receive free meals?
The Minnesota Free School Meals Program entitles each student to one free breakfast and one free lunch on all in-person academic days. Families should still consider applying for Educational Benefits to take advantage of non-meal related benefits like bussing and discounts on fees for activities, clubs and tests. Submitted applications also help school districts qualify for education funds and discounts.
All items outside of the complete meal are considered ala carte purchases.

What is the census?
Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau works to count every person in the United States, including everyone living in Minnesota.
The census asks questions of people in homes and group living situations, including how many people live or stay in each home, and the sex, age and race of each person
The resulting count will guide the distribution of billions of dollars to Minnesota’s communities, determine political representation for the next decade, and provide data that shapes how Minnesota’s policymakers and business leaders decide to invest public and private resources.
What kind of data is collected from my student?
One way the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) currently gathers information on students is through the Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS) Web Edit System (WES). MARSS is their primary reporting system for collecting individual student data from districts.
The information collected is used to compile student counts and average daily membership (ADM), which helps the MDE calculate how much funding each district receives. The secure system also collects student demographics as well as some of the programs students participate in. Learn more.
Is there before and/or after school care?
There is no before and/or after school care for grade 6-12.
Village Kids is the before and after school program for grades K-5 at Wilshire Park Elementary School. Village Kids also provides full-day programming on non-school days and during summer break. Learn more about Village Kids.
