Directory Information

The 2023 Legislative session modified the definition of educational data. Some educational data, such as directory information, is public information. Directory information includes: student’s name, school and grade level, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, degrees, honors and awards received, and the most recent educational agency or institution attended.

• St. Anthony - New Brighton Schools designates certain records as directory information to be used only for district or school-approved programs, publications, yearbooks, website and presentations. These records include student photographs, videos and other visual representations. 

• Directory information also includes parent name, address and contact information.  

If parents/guardians do not want their student(s) or parent contact information to be available as directory information, they have until September 30 to submit this online request to St. Anthony - New Brighton Schools or email to communications@isd282.org. 

Policy 515 is being updated with this information. 

Military & College Recruitment (grades 11 and 12 grade only)

St. Anthony Village High School will release to military recruiting officers the names, addresses, and home telephone numbers of students in grades 11 and 12, as required by state statute.

Student data released to military recruiting officers:

(1) may be used only for the purpose of providing information to students about military service, state and federal veterans' education benefits, and other career and educational opportunities provided by the military; and

(2) shall not be further disseminated to any other person except personnel of the recruiting services of the armed forces.

Parents and students have the right to refuse release of their student’s data to military recruiting officers. If parents/guardians do not want their student(s) information to be available to military recruiting officers, parents can email their decision to opt-out to communications@isd282.org.

When an emergency notification needs to be sent out, the following communication channels will be used to alert families:

• Website — Pop-up alerts will be posted on the District website at (www.isd282.org) and all school websites
• Notification phone call —  A phone call will be made to all phone numbers on file for all students
• Email and text message — An email message will be sent to parents/guardians.
  • The district uses Swift K12 to send emails, phone calls and text messages.
• Social media — Announcements will be posted to SANB's Facebook.  
• Local television & radio — Information will be relayed through local television and radio stations

Student safety is always the district's top priority. The district will do everything it can to communicate with the families of the students involved in an accurate and timely manner, and through the channels (phone, email, text, social media, etc.) it deems appropriate depending on the circumstances of the emergency.

We monitor weather and road conditions using the doppler radar, local experts and the city of St. Anthony Village to determine conditions. The district follows the National Weather Service temperature and wind-chill predictions for our community. We continually monitor this forecast throughout the winter season.

When the decision is made to close our schools, we do this only after confirming that it is:

• Too difficult to walk to school because of snow, and/or

• Dangerous low temperatures put students at risk, especially at bus stops

School cancellations for inclement weather are typically determined by 6 a.m, and announced via the following communication tools:
