Attendance

If your student is going to be absent from or late for school, please email wpoffice@isd282.org or call 612-706-1200 and leave a message on the attendance line with your students name, grade, and reason for the absence or tardy.

If your student is going to be picked up early for any reason, please notify the attendance office,  email wpoffice@isd282.org or call 612-706-1200 and leave a message with advanced notice. Your student will be given a pass to meet their parent/guardian in the WP office at the time requested by parent/guardian.  Parents/Guardians do need to come into the building to sign their student out.

If your student arrives after 9:15am they must check in at Door #1 (WP entrance) in the office. Parent/Guardians do not need to come into the building with their student.

If your student will be absent more than 3 days, please email wpoffice@isd282.org with the details of the absence. Teachers will indicate if there is any work they would like your student to do while they are away from school.

If your student arrives after 8am they must check in at Door #1 (HS entrance) at the welcome desk where they will get a building pass to bring down to the SAMS office.  Parent/Guardians do not need to come into the building with their student.

If your student will be absent more than 3 days, please email the attendance office with the details of the absence.  Your student will be given a special absence form with the dates of their absence to bring around to their teachers.  Teachers will indicate if there is any work they would like your student to do while they are away from school.  Once all teachers have signed the form your student will return it to the Attendance Office where a copy will be made and the excused absence entered into Skyward.  There is no need to email each teacher individually.

If your student arrives after 8am for an unexcused tardy, they must check in at Door #1 (HS entrance) at the Welcome Desk where they will get a Smart Pass from the kiosk. Parent/Guardians do not need to come into the building with their student. If the tardiness is excused, the student must check in at the Attendance Office in Room 208 to receive a pass to class and have their status updated in Skyward.

If your student will be absent for more than three (3) days, please have a parent or guardian email the Attendance Office at mkurak@isd282.org. with the absence details. You will need to fill out a "Trip Request Form," which can be found via this link or picked up in the Attendance Office located in Room 208.  The Trip Request Form should be taken to each of your student's teachers, who will note any assignments they would like the student to complete during their absence. After obtaining all necessary signatures, the completed form should be returned to the Attendance Office, where a copy will be made and the excused absence recorded in Skyward. There is no need to contact each teacher separately.

Students who become sick at school should seek help in the school’s health office. The Health Aide will determine if parents need to be called and if the child should go home. In the event of an emergency, First Aid will be provided, EMS (911) will be called and parents will be notified. The Health Aide will arrange for students who get sick at school to go home early. Students who leave school ill without visiting the Health Office will be unexcused.

A parent/guardian should notify the SAVHS Attendance Office if his/her child is unable to attend school because of illness.  Follow up with a doctor note, if appropriate.

Any anticipated absence of three or more days needs to be communicated to the school's office ahead of time. Please review your child's school's policies on Special Absence or Vacation greater than 3 days above for more information.
