15th Annual Mel Hart Scholarship Fundraiser

15th Annual Mel Hart Scholarship Fundraiser

Due to circumstances beyond our control once again, we are sad to announce that we have to cancel the 15th Annual Mel Hart Scholarship Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast.

We have always had a great time in the past meeting in April and discussing the past honoring Mel. We look forward to seeing you at the 2022 pancake breakfast. We are still hoping to award a deserving male and female with a scholarship this year with your help.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

The scholarship started in 2006 with an award of $500 to a male student at St. Anthony High School. Since then, with the help of Mel’s friends, family and community the scholarship has grown.

Thanks to you, last year we were able to award a scholarship of $2,000 to a boy and $2,000 to a girl at St. Anthony High School. The scholarships are intended for a student who is in good citizen and is planning to further their education after high school. View the flyer.

About Mel and the scholarship:

Mel Hart was a graduate of St. Anthony Village High School in 1963. He was a likeable student and very involved in athletics. He was a member of the football, baseball and wrestling teams. He was voted Mr. Touchdown for the 1962 football season and was also honored as the Most Valuable Player, a position decided by popular vote of the team. He was an all around good person. He was to marry his high school sweetheart when he returned from Vietnam. He was killed in action in Vietnam, on May 4, 1966 ,serving his country. Mel Hart had a scholarship named after him for a number of years here at St. Anthony. Friends and Family of Mel Hart have re-established this scholarship in remembrance of Mel’s spirit and accomplishments.
