This next edition of Student Spotlight is on Leilani Abraham, a St. Anthony Village High School 11th grade student.
This past year, Leilani participated in College in Schools (CIS), which allows students to learn college-level coursework and still receive college credit! Leilani visited the University of Minnesota with their CIS writing studio classmates earlier this year. This trip has inspired her to continue learning about University of Minnesota programs and information.
Leilani is Huskie Proud. They enjoy leading by example inside and outside of school and showing their utmost respect towards the people around them. To Leilani, Huskie Pride means students and staff care for each other by being kind and understanding to all.
Things they enjoy doing outside of school are spending time with their family and being as active as they can be – we’d say so! Leilani was named an ExCEL Award winner alongside Luca Stewart-Mariuci, an 11th grade student. The ExCEL Award - Excellence in Community, Education, and Leadership - is designed to recognize students who participate in school activities, are leaders in the school, and demonstrate a strong commitment to community service.
“I feel like I belong at St. Anthony mainly because of the friends I’ve made and the teachers who have shown they care about me and my education,” Leilani said.
Leilani wants to thank all of their teachers at St. Anthony Village High School who inspire them to keep trying especially when things get challenging academically.
Like Lu Chaput, Leilani Abraham represents the best of Huskie pride – engaged, proud, and kind to everyone in their school community. We are proud to have students like Leilani and Lu as part of our district, showcasing that SAVHS is not just a place of learning, but a launching pad for the leaders of tomorrow. Thank you, Leilani, for being Ever Brighter.
