Important info and updates from Principal Sawyer

Hello SAVHS Students and Families,

I hope that your summer is off to a great start!

We finished the year strong with a great outdoor graduation ceremony and wish the SAVHS Class of 2021 good luck as they move into the next stage of life. The link to the graduation ceremony can be found here.

2021-2022 SAVHS schedule:
For the 2021-22 school year we are making some changes to our schedule with a goal of increased flexibility, variety, and student support.

Our schedule is based on a seven-period school day, with 9th grade students taking seven classes per semester and 10th-12th grade students taking six classes and a study hall each semester. Our number of credits offered and graduation requirements will not change.

Schedule basics:

  • Our school day will be from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
  • We will be adding WIN (What I Need) Time four days per week.
  • On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays we will have a seven-period school day with a short WIN (What I Need) Time.
  • On Wednesdays we will have three longer class periods and a longer WIN Time.
  • On Thursdays we will have four longer class periods.
  • Individual student schedules will be available on Skyward approximately one week before school starts.

A visual representation of the schedule is shared below.

2021-22 schedule

During WIN Time students will have the opportunity to get help from teachers, work collaboratively with peers, make up tests and quizzes, attend grade level meetings, and get homework done. We will be using a software program that allows teachers to request students to their rooms during WIN Time and track their attendance. We are also looking at options for moving some of our club meetings to Wednesdays during WIN Time.

Some other notes:

Have a great summer,
