Rebecca Nelson and Grady Cartony named Triple ‘A’ Award Winners

Each year St. Anthony Village High School has the opportunity to recognize two seniors with the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award (often referred to as the Triple ‘A’ Award). This year’s recipients – Rebecca Nelson and Grady Cartony – are outstanding representatives for SAVHS, excelling in all three areas of the award.

Rebecca Nelson has earned a 4.1 GPA while taking a number of AP and CIS courses. She is a two-sport athlete, being a captain of the basketball and track and field teams. Last track season, Becca went to state in the 400M Dash after hitting a huge PR in the section meet (59.23). She also anchored the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays which both went to state. On the basketball court, Becca has been one of the top scorers so far this season. Nelson has been a member of the Chamber Choir since 10th grade and really enjoys how when everyone does their part, a masterpiece can be created. Becca will be headed to Bethel next year where she hopes to pursue a degree in Elementary Education while continuing her basketball career.

Grady Cartony is a member of the symphonic, concert, and jazz bands at SAVHS where he plays saxophone. He is extremely passionate about jazz music and plans to pursue a degree in music, specifically in jazz performance. He has been a section leader since his sophomore year and was named to the All-State Jazz Band this year. He has a solid 3.7 GPA while taking two AP courses. Athletically, Grady has played both hockey and baseball throughout high school. He has been a varsity goalie for the hockey team since his sophomore year and has spent time volunteering his time helping younger goalies hone their skills.  Cartony is especially proud of using his talents to give back to the community.

Congratulations, Rebecca and Grady!
