We wanted to inform you that St. Anthony Village High School (SAVHS) Principal Justin Sawyer has accepted a position with Minnetonka High School as an associate principal, as of July 1. His last day with the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District will be June 30.
Even though we are incredibly sad to see him leave, we are excited for him and his family for this incredible opportunity. Justin, and his caring and dedicated leadership will be missed, as he will be difficult to replace. He is not only an integral part of the St. Anthony-New Brighton community, he is also our friend. We wish him all the best in his new role— Minnetonka High School is lucky to have him! Go Skippers!
“I have enjoyed my time at SAVHS, learning new things everyday, getting to know students, staff, and families, growing alongside students and staff, and being part of a staff that loves our kids. Although it is difficult to leave, I am excited for the opportunity to continue my educational journey at Minnetonka High School. At this point, our family is not sure if we will be moving closer to Minnetonka and our family that lives west of the metro” said Justin Sawyer.
“Justin is not only a trusted leader at our high school, but also at the district. He has stepped up various times when we needed him, going above and beyond his principal responsibilities. He served alongside me as a co-principal at the middle school last year, and has played a major role in ensuring staff and students received what they needed throughout the pandemic, and beyond. His loyalty to the Huskie family has been unwavering, especially when staff, students and families needed him the most. Thank you Justin for your dedication to our school district, and to our entire community,” said Superintendent Dr. Renee Corneille.
Superintendent Dr. Renee Corneille plans to hire an external candidate from outside of the district on an interim-basis to fill the vacant SAVHS principal role for the 2021-22 school year. The process of formally naming a principal at SAVHS will take place in the spring of 2022. We will notify our staff and families once the interim position is filled.
Please join us in congratulating Justin Sawyer on his new adventure!
